Sonkin • Koberna’s Consumer Protection Litigation attorneys represent both individuals and companies in connection with the prosecution and defense of claims arising under Ohio’s consumer legislation, including the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act, the Deceptive Trade Practices Act and the Home Solicitation Sales Act. REPRESENTATIVE ENGAGEMENTS

  • Lead co-counsel in class actions brought against national title insurance companies for failing to pass along premium discounts to Ohio homeowners, resulting in settlement funds of $9 million and $6.5 million
  • Defended homeowner in foreclosure suit brought by contractor, and successfully brought counterclaims for violations of the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act and Home Solicitations Sales Act
  • Defended numerous automobile dealerships in claims brought for alleged violations of the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act and Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act in connection with sale and lease of new and used automobiles
  • Recovered substantial six-figure settlement representing the full value of homeowner’s residential property in action against home builder for fraud, breach of contract and violations of Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act arising from failure to disclose poor soil conditions under foundation of home
  • Represented auto dealer in recovery for defamation claim against competing dealership who facilitated car buyer in picketing and protesting false information about auto dealer
